How to Get a Copy of Your Denver Car Accident Report
If you were in a serious vehicle accident and the Denver Police Department (DPD) responded, you have several options to request a copy of your accident report.
To request your Denver police report online or through the mail, visit the records page of the DPD website.
The site lists several types of reports, look for the “Accident Report” section to begin the request process.
Request Your Report Online
Make your online records request via the Lexis Nexis Request a Report search page. Agree to the terms and conditions, confirm you are over the age of 18, then search for your Denver accident report.
Be prepared to enter the following search criteria,
- Your email
- Name
- Address
- Incident date and time
- Name and license plate number of at least one involved party
REQUEST YOUR REPORT THROUGH THE MAIL
Mail order records requests use the Denver Police Department Report Request form found on the DPD records page.
Make sure you have the following information about your accident,
- Case number
- Report type
- Incident Date, Time and Location
- Your name
- Address
- Name and license plate number of at least one involved party
Fill out, print and drop off or mail the form, along with a $10 check or money order payable to the Manager of Revenue to:

To receive your report back in the mail, include a self-addressed stamped envelope. To have your report returned by email, include your email address.
Important Notes About Your Denver Police Accident Report
- Accidents that occurred in Denver but were only reported to Colorado State Patrol are not be available from the DPD.
- Hit-and-run accidents and accidents involving a fatality are available from the Civil Liability Section by ordering an “Investigation Report.” The fee is $15 for an investigation report.
- Fees collected are search fees under Denver Revised Municipal Code 42-1. If a report or record does not exist or is not releasable, funds collected are not returned.
