Denver, CO -- A rollover crash on I-225 left three people dead and three others with serious and life-threatening injuries on Saturday afternoon. The crash happened at 4:19 p.m. near Parker Road.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, a woman in her 20s was driving north with five passengers in a 2004 Ford Explorer when she lost control of the vehicle. The SUV went off the right shoulder, causing it to roll three times before coming to a stop. The driver along with two passengers, a man in his 20s and another man in his 30s, died from their injuries.
The two men who died were not wearing their seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle. One other passenger, a female in her 20s, also wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was rushed to Denver Health with life-threatening injuries. The last two passengers, a 20-year-old man and a 35-year-old man, were wearing seatbelts and suffered serious injuries.
CSP suspects alcohol and speed to be major factors in the crash. Investigators also stated that SUV was overloaded with one extra passenger.
