Bicyclist From Louisville Killed in Crash on South Boulder Road

Boulder, CO --A Louisville man died earlier this month after being hit by an SUV while biking. The crash happened around 11:00 a.m. on July 11 at the intersection of South Boulder Road and 76th Street.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, 57-year-old Perry Nelson was riding his bike west on South Boulder Road. At the same time, a 67-year-old man was driving his BMW SUV east and attempted to make a left turn onto 76th Street, striking Nelson. Emergency responders rushed Nelson to Boulder Community Health’s Foothills Hospital, but died on arrival.

The CSP is still investigating the cause of the accident. They don’t believe speed, alcohol, or drugs were factors in the crash. Trooper Josh Lewis reported that the area was closed to bicyclists at the time of the accident, requiring them to merge into traffic. So far, no charges have been filed against the driver of the SUV.
