Summit County, CO -- A two-vehicle crash in Summit County on Monday afternoon left one motorcyclist dead and closed down both directions of Highway 91 for two hours.
The accident happened around 1:00 p.m. just south of Copper Mountain.
According to Colorado State Patrol, a 45-year-old motorcyclist from Eagle County was heading north on Highway 91 in his Harley Davidson when a Ford pickup truck driving the same direction slowed down to make a left turn onto a private road.
As the truck turned onto the road, the motorcyclist tried to pass on the left but hit the rear driver’s side of the truck.
When emergency responders arrived, they found the motorcyclist dead on the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured in the crash. Preliminary investigation from the Colorado State Patrol shows that speed and reckless driving may be major factors in the accident.
